Installing and Signing In

Vinegar works as a browser extension. You need an account before the extension can look up brand ownership for you.

Install the extension

1. Install Vinegar from the relevant extension store for your browser.

   • For Chrome, Brave, and other Chromium-based browsers, this will be the Chrome Web Store.

   • For Firefox and most Firefox forks, such as LibreWolf, this will be Firefox Add-ons.

2. Pin the extension if you like, so it is easy to open from your toolbar.

3. Click the Vinegar icon to open the popup.

Create an account or sign in

If you are not signed in yet, the extension popup will show a welcome screen with two options:

• “Get Started” opens the Vinegar website so you can create an account.

• “Sign in” opens the sign-in page if you already have one.

After you sign in on the website, Vinegar connects your account to the extension automatically. You do not need to copy any codes or verify any other way. If it doesn’t sign you in automatically, open the extension pop up and try pressing “Sign in” again. If anything goes wrong, it should state clearly what the issue is, on the extension authentication page you were redirected to.

Check that it worked

Once you are signed in, the extension popup should show your username and plan (Free or Premium) at the bottom.

Now, you can open a supported product page on Amazon and you should see the ownership card on the page, unless you have turned Vinegar off in the extension popup settings (found in the top right corner of the popup), or have not given the extension all the permissions it needs to run.

How to sign out

To sign out, open the extension popup and click the sign out button at the bottom right hand corner of the popup. This removes your session from the extension, and will log you out immediately. You can sign back in any time from the welcome screen.

Troubleshooting

• “The popup still asks me to sign in after I signed in on the website”

  Refresh the product page, then open the popup again. Make sure you completed sign-in on getvinegar.com in the same browser where the extension is installed.

• ”I randomly got signed out”

  Your session might have expired. Open the popup and sign in again. If you come across repeated errors or aren’t sure what’s going on, feel free to open a ticket.
